Funeral service for Darlene Sanders Ziegler, 73, of Decatur will be Saturday, March 30th at 11:00 at First Baptist Church, Decatur, Alabama, with Dr. Gil McKee officiating and Spry Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 9:30 to 10:45 at First Baptist Church, 123 Church Street, N.E., Decatur, with funeral following.

Mrs. Ziegler, who died Thursday, March 28th, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was born June 8, 1945, in Hartselle, Alabama, to Cora and Leonard Sanders. She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband Dave W. Ziegler.
Survivors include her son Joe Ziegler and his wife Andrea; two granddaughters Addie and Sarah Ziegler, all of Tuscaloosa where Joe serves as Worship Pastor at First Baptist Tuscaloosa.

A longtime member of First Baptist Decatur, Darlene enjoyed singing in the choir, served on various committees, and especially enjoyed the fellowship of the Sara Etheridge Sunday school class. She treasured the many friendships she had in her church family. Darlene’s love for music inspired many and was the environment in which her son discovered his calling to music ministry.

Mrs. Ziegler enjoyed a 37-year career in the Classified Advertising Department of the Decatur Daily. She loved her Daily family and the friendships she made over the years.
