Ricky Baker, age 68, left this world peacefully on April 30, 2026, surrounded by loved ones in his home. Born on July 12, 1957, in Athens, Alabama, Ricky was a self-taught mechanic with a passion for vehicles that was only outshined by his passion and love for his family. Ricky also enjoyed spending time gardening, fishing, and relaxing at home with his wife. Ricky had an unwavering kindness driven by the need to help others no matter the cost that was well known throughout Giles and Limestone Counties.
Ricky was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin Z. W. Baker and Mary Lane Dutton, one sister, Clara Mae Baker, one son, Timothy Ricky Baker, and one grandson, Daniel Jr. Ball. He is survived by his wife, Mechel Baker, his children, Tammy (Tyler) Rains, Stephanie (Daniel) Ball, Rick Baker, Priscilla (Steve Jackson) Baker, and Zach Baker; his grandchildren, Tiffany, Tabitha, Tiara, Taylor, Ricky, Tessa, Johnny, and Lily, as well as other grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on May 17, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at Spry Funeral Home of Athens to celebrate the life of Ricky Baker.
