Mr. Meals was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.  He was a devoted husband to his wife, Marjorie, and helped care for her for the last few years of her life, as she suffered with Scleroderma, while never offering one single complaint. He was a farmer and worked at Monsanto for over 30 years.  Taking an early retirement allowed him to spend time with his wife, work in their flourishing gardens and help his son, as needed, in a pallet business.  Then later he enjoyed driving for Ken Bates.  They loved working in the church nursery, keeping some special children in their home while their parents worked.  He found great pride in his volunteer work at his church and knew the best way to serve God was to serve his fellow man.  He spent many hours participating in the Christmas Nativity Drive-through.  He went on mission trips to help restore and repair churches, while faithfully using the talents God had given him.  His hands built more than just structures; they helped strengthen hope in his fellowman through his unwavering faith.

His greatest joy was found in his entire family, friends and neighbors. He especially cherished watching the children participate in their many sports, finding deep pleasure in their accomplishments and energy.   A kind-hearted man, he was deeply loved by all who knew him and left behind a legacy of quiet strength, generosity, and an example of a life well-lived.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Scleroderma Foundation in his memory.
